DIA DA POESIA
 
 
“Hoje é o dia da Poesia”,
disse uma árvore, logo pela manhã,
estendendo demoradamente todos os ramos
que assim abraçaram
os ramos de outras árvores,
que por sua vez foram repetindo
os mesmos gestos e as mesmas palavras
 
Foi uma onda de saudações e abraços que partiu
de uma árvore, no centro da floresta,
e se propagou para lá do verde;
até aos rios, e para lá dos rios,
até às montanhas, e para lá das montanhas,
até aos campos, e para lá dos campos,
até às pessoas, e para lá das pessoas
 
Poesia…, Poesia…, Poesia…,
foi a palavra com maior eco,
a que ficou a soar por todas as lonjuras,
e por isso a mais ouvida
Poesia…, Poesia…, Poesia…,
foi o véu que voou pelos espaços,
e se tornou o cântico da diversidade
 
Os astros observaram
a nova luz que envolveu a Terra,
e chegou-lhes esse eco longínquo, mas claro:
Poesia…, Poesia…, Poesia…,
e deram abraços secretos, repetindo:
Poesia…, Poesia…, Poesia…,
até ao infinito

POETRY DAY

"Today is Poetry Day",
said a tree early in the morning,
lengthily extending all the branches
which then embraced
the branches of other trees,
which in turn repeated
the same gestures and words
 
It was a wave of greetings and hugs that began
from a tree in the centre of the forest,
and spread beyond the green;
to the rivers, and beyond the rivers,
to the mountains, and beyond the mountains,
to the fields, and beyond the fields,
to the people, and beyond the people
 
Poetry..., Poetry..., Poetry...,
was the word with the greatest echo,
the one that rang out far and wide,
and therefore the most heard
Poetry..., Poetry..., Poetry...,
was the veil that flew through space,
and became the song of diversity
 
The stars observed
the new light that enveloped the Earth,
and this distant but clear echo reached them:
Poetry..., Poetry..., Poetry...,
and they gave each other secret hugs, repeating:
Poetry..., Poetry..., Poetry...,
to infinity
